Belonging and Engagement
At Butler, we strive to foster a welcoming campus culture where all are able to grow and thrive alongside each other. If you’re seeking to build relationships in a like-minded community or enjoy programming surrounding shared experiences, the following pathways were designed to help you get connected to our many student organizations, employee affinity groups, and more.
Student DEI Communities
Butler has over a dozen diverse student organizations and communities to choose from. Show up as your authentic self, embrace differences, and make a meaningful mark during your time at Butler as you discover—and create—belonging on campus.
Faculty and Staff Communities
Butler strives to be a welcoming and inclusive workplace. The following affinity groups, created in partnership with the Division of DEI, are designed to cultivate community and a sense of belonging for faculty and staff with underrepresented identities.
Identity Working Groups
When Butler faculty, staff, students, and alumni work together to create awareness and tangible change surrounding the priorities and needs of underrepresented identities on campus, their working groups will be added here. Current working groups include: Indigenous Engagement and Inclusion, Jewish Life at Butler, Muslim Life at Butler, and LGBTQIA+ Life at Butler. Once ready, their work, recommended toolkits, and resources will be listed here.
Butler Identity-Based Alumni Communities
As an extension of the Butler University Alumni Association, the Black, Latinx, and LGBT Alumni Associations serve as champions of alumni engagement in partnership with the Office of Butler Community Engagement and the Division of DEI. These graduates with underrepresented identities, allies, and friends inspire each other to share their time, talent, and treasure to advance Butler’s Mission and Vision.
